2018 Michigan Renaissance Festival

One of Oakland County’s most unique and highly anticipated annual events is returning for the 39th consecutive year. Get ready for the 2018 Michigan Renaissance Festival.

Open on weekends and Labor Day starting on August 18th and running through to September 30th. Each weekend is themed. Here is a list of what those themes are according to the dates –

ROYAL PET & ALE FEST – Aug. 18th & 19th

One of the more popular weekends which attracts pet owners from near and far. There are pet vendors and pet rescues that will be available throughout the weekend.

HIGHLAND FLING – Aug. 25th & 26th

There will be Scottish games throughout the weekend such as sheaf toss, hammer throw, stone put and the Fan Favorite caber toss! You are also in for a treat as the Flint Scottish Pipe Band will be performing as well.  Oh, and if you have a Scottish kilt then this would be the time to show it off in the competition.

HIGH SEAS ADVENTURE – Sept. 1st, 2nd & 3rd

This weekend will draw some interesting folks out. There’s a beard competition that will judge people on the longest beard, grizzliest (fullest) beard, most unique beard, and the best-trimmed beard. So don’t shave that beard just yet!! There will also be tattoo competitions as well as more fun.

WONDERS OF THE WORLD – Sept. 8th & 9th

This weekend showcases belly dancing competitions, steampunk invasion, race for the rattle, and a Dr. Who costume contest. Fun!!!

SHAMROCKS & SHENANIGANS – Sept. 15th & 16th

Who is up for SHENANIGANS?! There will be Irish heavy games, Flint Scottish Pipe Band, Men in Kilts competition, race for the rattle, and deaf awareness weekend.

HARVEST HUZZAH – Sept. 22nd & 23rd

Bring your appetite because this is the weekend the BBQ festival and competition is held.  There will be BBQ vendors all weekend with the competition being held on Sunday.

FESTIVAL FRIDAY – Sept. 28th

This day is focused on the students. It has been an annual tradition of the Festival for over 30 years. Bring the kids and have an enjoyable day of learning.

SWEET ENDINGS – Sept. 29th & 30th

What better way to end the festival than with chocolate!! There will be chocolate vendors throughout the weekend with free samples being given out AND there’s a fencing competition this weekend as well!!

So get out to at least one of these weekends and enjoy!!
