Did you watch the opening of the 2018 Winter Olympics? O-H M-Y G-O-D!!! Very impressive, right? Here’s a snippet in case you missed it.
Now getting to the point of this blog. Did you hear about the connection we have to the Winter Olympics? I know a guy who knows a guy who is related to the sister-in-law of a guy and . . . No. No. No. There is a Winter Olympian who is from West Bloomfield, Michigan!!
Kyle Mack is the man and he’s a snowboarder who started the sport back at the tender age of 7 years old. At age 15 he was landing the first-ever frontside triple rodeo 1440 at the O’Neill Evolution. What is a “frontside triple rodeo 1440” you ask? Yeah me too. Take a look –
That’s right! Only an amazing Michigander named Kyle could pull that move off. I don’t know about you but I’ll be glued to the tv set watching for this guy.
According to the Rochester Patch:
Mack’s Olympic debut will be on Saturday in the qualifying heats of the slopestyle snowboarding competition. The final rounds (and medal presentation) will be on Sunday, Feb. 11. He also will compete in the big air competition, with qualifying heats on Wednesday, Feb. 21, and final rounds (and medal presentation) on Saturday, Feb. 24.
What is your favorite Winter Olympic Sport? I have to say I like a lot of them and maybe because of where I am from. In Michigan, you either roll with the weather and don’t let it beat you down or you become a hermit. Most of us have learned how to entertain ourselves in spite of or maybe because of the winter white stuff we are afforded in this State. Wonderful, right? I actually do love it as I love ALL 4 seasons here. There’s beauty you just can’t find outside of this State.
