With 4637 acres Bald Mountain Recreation Area is THE place to go any time of the year! You will find a boat launch, swimming beach, picnic areas, picnic shelters, hunting, fishing cabins for rent and much more.
During the Summer you will see people enjoying the nice clean beach located on North Trout Lake. There’s swimming available at Bald Mountain Recreation Area, but NO lifeguard. There’s also showers and bathrooms along with a playground. You will also find people boating and fishing as they do offer kayaks and canoes for a reasonable rental fee. Some may find the facilities a bit rustic but if you don’t mind the rustic vibe then you should enjoy yourself. The trails are nicely marked and there’s plenty of shade. So in the Summer one can come spend the day and hike, boat, fish, and/or swim.
During the Winter you will see people come out to Bald Mountain Recreation Area to partake in some cross country skiing as the trails are great for that. Due to the convenient location, it really does afford people with great outdoor opportunities. This State Park is actually located within the Detroit Metro area. It is shocking to believe that because after traveling just 200 feet into the park you feel as though you’ve entered an area within the Upper Peninsula of Michigan instead.
You will need a recreation passport which can be obtained at any State Park Office or at the Secretary of State. The Recreational passport is a great investment because it allows one entry into all of the 100+ Michigan State Parks. So pack up your family, friends, and hiking gear. It’s time for a Michigan outing. Aren’t we blessed by all the great opportunities we have to enjoy the gifts found only in the great outdoors? I’m a big outdoor fan! To prove it I’ll share one of my favorite photos. 🙂
Okay! That’s enough! Let’s get outside.
