Birmingham KNOWS Parks

Birmingham KNOWS Parks!!

No one knows parks like the way Birmingham KNOWS Parks!! Birmingham is a city which is located in Oakland County on the north side of the Detroit Metro. It is situated in the Woodward Corridor, between Royal Oak and Bloomfield Hills. In 2010, the population was recorded at 20,103. There are MORE than 20 parks within the City!! That’s a lot of parks, right! It is great for outdoor enthusiasts as well as families who are looking for some fun in the sun!

Here are just a few of those parks I thought I might mention –

Quarton Lake is well known to the area residents and you will find many who enjoy spending their time here. There have been several park improvements including landscaping and structural enhancements creating several overlook viewing areas, installing a footbridge over the water just below the dam, an addition of a new fishing pier, and an improved pathway system throughout the park. A great place to spend a quiet moment in nature.

Booth Park is another fun spot where you will see many people enjoying time together. It’s located at the southwest intersection of Old Woodward and Harmon, north of the Rouge River branch. There are many features which include something for every season. Yes! Even in the Winter you can grab the kids and enjoy sledding and in the warmer months you’ll enjoy the playscape, a labyrinth, and tunnel, turf hill/amphitheater, rain garden,  a trail, and open green space.

Shain Park which is located on Merrill Street in downtown Birmingham is considered the heart of the City. There’s a performance stage area with open lawn space for large audiences and that’s why it is home for the In the Park Summer Concerts. You’ll also discover that it becomes quite magical with twinkling lights during the holiday season and at the end of May there’s the Village Fair which is also held there as well.
