Farmington Hills Community Center

Great news for the Farmington Hills Community!

Have you heard? Farmington Hills is gaining a community recreation and fine arts facility. The Farmington Public school boards voted to approve the sale of the Harrison High School building to the city of Farmington Hills for $500,000. What great news for the Farmington Hills community!

They have been in talks for several months about this as the Farmington Public School District had decided to close the Harrison school building because of declining enrollment. I think this is a great solution to utilizing the building in this manner. It will close in June of 2019, The building is located on 12 Mile between Orchard Lake and Middlebelt roads.

The residents of Farmington Hills have been asking for more recreational and community opportunities and this is a perfect answer to those requests. The City is envisioning a pool, auditorium and other amenities in the Harrison building.

What do you think about this? Is it a good addition to the Farmington Hills community? A good use of a school which is to become empty soon? What other amenities would you like to see added?
