Labor Day Bridge Walk & Run

On Monday, September 3rd, gather your friends and family for the 13th annual Labor Day Bridge Walk & Run. You can choose between a 2-mile round trip walk or a 10K round-trip walk/run on the Paint Creek Trail.  This is a free event, with a suggested donation of $5 per family for Trail improvements.

The location of this event is at Rochester Municipal Park – Kiwanis Pavilion (Pavilion is near the Children’s Playground on the southeast side of the park). Participants will start at the Pavilion and walk 100 feet to the Paint Creek Trail.

The event begins at 9 am with registration at 8 am. You also may register online starting on August 15th.

“This is our favorite community event. It’s a chance for everyone to enjoy the Paint Creek Trail – a free, accessible natural resource in our communities that is now part of the State of Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail Network. We love to encourage people to use the trail to incorporate physical activity in their daily routines. Open to all ages and abilities, we will have a free face painting artist, donuts, and giveaways. In addition, everyone will be entered into a free drawing for the chance to win a $500 Gift Card from Rochester Bike Shop! We are expecting up to 400 participants, and are fortunate to have presenting sponsors Back to the Beach Runners, Friends of the Paint Creek Trail and Trader Joe’s as well as contributing sponsors Retro Fitness, Lucido Fine Jewelry, Starbucks Store #09400, Red Knapp’s Dairy Bar, Great Clips on Walton, Grand Traverse Pie Company, and Dillman & Upton,” said Myers.

So dig out those walking/running shoes and support a great cause and if you’ve never been to Paint Creek Trail then you are surely in for a treat. It is a great local resource for exercise and just getting out to enjoy the great outdoors!!
