The Meridian Winter Blast is fast approaching and it is an event you will not want to miss. It takes place in downtown Detroit on January 26th – 28th. There is plenty to do for the outdoor enthusiasts and here are a few of those events you’ll be able to enjoy.
Meridian Winter Slide – You can choose from 2 different levels according to your tastes and/or bravery. One is the 40 degree Meridian Winter Wipeout or there’s the 30 degree Meridian Winter Blaster. Not for the faint of heart. It costs $3 per turn.
Skating – There is skating available and it is FREE. If you need to rent skates then it will cost you $3. This takes place at Campus Martius Park.
Ski/Snowboard – Take lessons and learn to ski or snowboard. Boyne Highlands of Harbor Springs and Boyne Mountain are teaming up to provide the lessons and fun.
Food Truck Rally – Hungry? Don’t miss the food trucks then! There will be nearly a dozen vendors present and ready for you to taste their cuisine.
Ice Garden – Walk among some expertly crafted and lighted ice sculptures. It’s a great Kodak moment. Wait! Do they say that anymore? Get your phones out instead. I’m showing my age.
Zip Lining – That’s right! Have no fear or rather, fear of heights that is! For 20 seconds you’ll soar through the air and ride over Campus Martius Park.
Marshmellow Roasting – What Winter festival would be complete without marshmallow roasting! For just $3 you will get marshmallow and S’more Kits with everything you need to satisfy your sweet tooth!
Polar Plunge – How about jumping into the icy waters to benefit the Special Olympics of Michigan! No? Then come out and support the ones who do brave the waters.
Indoors you will find stages with bands, a Family Stage and Michigan Science Center Activities or warm up in one of the comfort zones. I’m telling you this is an iconic event you won’t want to miss. The Meridian Winter Blast drew an estimated 90,000 people last year and this year is expected to draw even more! Grab your mittens, scarves, and hats.
