Oakland County 2019 MLK, Jr Observations and Ceremonies
Auburn Hills – Come for a community-wide celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Enjoy a continental breakfast, courtesy of Harbor Chase of Auburn Hills, and hear special remarks from guest speakers and city officials.
The theme this year is Service: The True Meaning of Greatness! Afterward, we will gather in the gymnasium to make fleece tie blankets for those in need for donation to Grace Centers of Hope homeless shelter.
They will also accept blanket donations at this event. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first served basis.

Birmingham – The Race Relations and Diversity Task Force is honored to provide the Metro Detroit community with an opportunity to remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The morning will begin with opening reflections by Matthew Schmitt, Co-Founder of The Table Setters, Activist, Musician, Writer. Then a facilitated discussion and guided activities with Elizabeth Whittaker-Walker, Principal, Raymond Whittaker Design will provide us with a vehicle to let our voices be heard. Spend an enlightening morning with us as we celebrate, remember and move forward guided by the legacy of Dr. King.

Farmington – Farmington Hills – Attend for a full day of programming honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All events at the Main Library take place in the Auditorium, unless otherwise noted. Annual Dr Martin Luther King Jr celebration includes activities and events for all ages.

Milford – An annual celebration providing opportunities to serve the community, while celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a continuing effort to realize his dream as ours.

Royal Oak – The event kicks off with a light breakfast followed by inspirational performances from students. Participants are encouraged to participate in both on- and off-site service projects. Admission is FREE with donation of one or more items (toiletries, diapers, clothing for kids, puzzles for kids, winter clothes for kids, etc.)
