There are so many things, as I’ve said in previous blogs, to keep us Michiganders active during the time of year most would hibernate inside. Cross-country skiing at an Oakland County State Park is another one of those activities. Oakland County State Parks
Bald Mountain Recreation Area – 8 miles of trails for cross-country skiing through hilly terrain (some of the hilliest in Southeast Michigan) in its North Unit.

Dodge #4 State Park – A sandy beach and a one-mile shoreline on Cass Lake makes Dodge #4 State Park an excellent location for cross-country skiing.

Ortonville Recreation Area – Ortonville Recreation Area has 2.5 miles of trails. This wooded area, dotted with many small lakes, offers a sanctuary away from the metropolitan area.

Pontiac Lake Recreation Area – You’ll find 11 miles of cross-country trails for your skiing pleasure within a mixture of marshes, ponds, heavy forests, old farm fields, river bottom, and lakes.

Seven Lakes State Park – You’ll find trails ranging from .33 mile to 2 miles on land that’s a combination of farmland, rolling hills, and forests.
