It has been proven that children will eat healthier if they are educated on where food comes from. At the Clarkston Family Farm that is a big part of what they learn. “Growing Hearts and Minds” is their motto.
It truly is a gift to be able to take your children to this farm and spend an afternoon working, planting, playing and learning. The conversation in the car on the ride home and at the dinner table that evening will be overflowing with farm talk!
The first Sunday of every month, starting in July, is when the farm opens its gates to the community with the request that you come prepared to get dirty. There’s nothing like gardening away your worries while helping build a greener future. Mark your calendars and come on out this Sunday, July 2nd from 1 to 3 pm. Don’t forget to change out of your Sunday best.
If you cannot possibly make it on the first Sunday of every month then don’t worry because you’ll have another chance on ANY Tuesday morning between 9 to 11 am. Drop the gym for the day and get a real workout while helping the gardens grow.
Another project day is Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm. See they really do try to accommodate everyone’s schedule here and when you help the Clarkston Family Farm you help the community.
For the kids this Summer the Clarkston Family Farm hosts a weeklong camp which involves the kids in learning about nature, healthy eating and sustainable living. The fresh air and outdoor time are sure to make memories of a lifetime. Still remember my camping days from childhood. How about you?
